Team Brunel rejoins the Volvo Ocean Race
Team Brunel participates in the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 again. After the Team Brunel success in 2014-15 Bouwe Bekking is back at the helm. It will be the 8th time he will be at the start of the race of all races and Bekking is the most experienced Volvo Ocean Race skipper ever. Central focus point in this race will be the transfer of experience to the new generation.
“The teams’ goal is to bring acceleration to the new generation. We are successful when we optimally combine experience and talent. We win by creating opportunities for the new generationâ€, according to Bouwe.
We create new possibilities by connecting experience with knowledge, organizations and people to create new future possibilities. For sailing, our planet and for individuals. This starts with our team selection. “We want to create opportunities for young talents like Carlo Huisman (25) who just won the America’s cup with the Emirates Team New Zealand.
“Brunel will specifically assist the new generation technicians to take over the helm anywhere in the world for a short period of time. Engineers creating the future.â€, according to Jan Brand, founder of Brunel who personally interfered with participating in the 2017-18 race.
Team Brunel is an initiative of cooperating Dutch organizations and investors such as Jan Brand, Brunel, Abel Delft, ACE Ingenieurs- & adviesbureau, P2 Managers, Royal Huisman and EY.
